How to Fake a Night's Worth of Sleep

There's nothing worse than the day after a sleepless night. You feel puffy, sallow and a big mess. But I'm here to rescue you with these makeup tricks that will leave you looking as if you had a full 8 hours of sleep. The trick is all in the eyes (mostly). You never want to fully makeup your eyes when you're tired. This brings too much attention to them. At the same time, you'll look even worse if you don't apply some makeup. The key is in the balance. Here we go.... Eyeshadow can be a lifesaver When it comes to looking awake, eyeshadow is your hero. Most eyeshadow palettes come with a neutral shade. Sweep this across the entire lid (always prime first with a shadow primer, concealer or foundation) from lash line to the browbone. To look really awake, dab your finger into a super light eyeshadow and press your finger into the inside corner of the eye. This conceals the darkish area right at the corner and makes eyes pop. Curl those lashes Curled lashes are another makeup artist's secret for making eyes look wide awake. Simply clamp down the curler as close as you can to the lash line and open and close 3 times. Then apply a couple coats of mascara. Oh highlighter pen, how I love ye Nothing brightens the face overall than a great illuminating pen. You simply put your head down while glancing up into the mirror, then you sweep on color on all the darkened shadows, lifting up your head to blend in. Pink cheeks = health Nothing makes you appear healthy like pink cheeks. Blend in a creamy blush into the apples of your cheeks to turn your sallow complexion into an image of dewiness, health and a full night's sleep. Bright lips? Yeah, maybe If you really want to deflect from your sallow complexion and the bags under your eyes, apply a bright lipstick. Teabag to the Rescue To combat puffy eyes, put a used bag of caffeinated tea (black tea) in the refrigerator for a half-hour, then place over your eyelids. Make sure to squeeze out the excess tea. Keep them there for 10 minutes and any puffiness will go away. Caffeine is great for the eye area. Another favorite tired-eye tip: Keeping a teaspoon in the freezer for mornings when your tired eyes need a pick-me-up. Simply place the spoon over each eye.
